Privacy Policy – Kitchey

1. Who we are

2. Data we collect

When you create an account and use Kitchey, we collect:

Email address — used to create and manage your account, and to send you important account-related messages.
Display name — the name you choose for your profile, visible to household members you share with.
User ID — a unique identifier assigned to your account, used internally to link your data.
Password — stored as a one-way cryptographic hash. We never store or have access to your actual password.
Household data — inventory items, shopping lists, and other content you add to the app. This data is stored on our servers so it can be shared across your devices and with household members.

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, browsing history, or financial information beyond what Apple processes for subscription payments.

3. How we use your data

To provide and maintain the Kitchey service
To authenticate you and keep your account secure
To sync your data across devices and with household members you invite
To respond to support requests
To send essential service notifications (e.g. password reset)

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on servers located in the European Union. We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and hashed passwords. Access to personal data is restricted to what is necessary to operate the service.

5. Data sharing

We do not share your personal data with third parties, except:

Household members — your display name is visible to people you invite to your household.
Apple — subscription payments are processed by Apple and subject to Apple's privacy policy.
Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

6. Your rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Export your data

7. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data and household content are permanently deleted within 30 days.

8. Children

Kitchey is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via the app or by email. Continued use of Kitchey after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
